Hello fellow Stone Bridge Drivers,
Last night the Grand Prix Festival Committee had it’s regular monthly meeting. This one was mostly a critique of the 2011 event with an eye towards what and where we need to improve.
One of the changes I can already tell you about is that thanks to your input (or should I say complaints) and communication to me by your event chairs, the 2012 Grand Prix Festival will be going back to multi colored windshield stickers. Meaning that each SBD event will go back to having it’s own recognizable color. 2011 saw a change to one color for all SBD cars because some of the colors were to hard to see on the street. It turned out that white and yellow were to only two colors that were visible enough. My plan was white stickers for 2011 and yellow stickers for all cars in 2012.
It was an experiment that only succeeded because of it’s dismal failure. I had no idea that the individual colors had become such an object of pride for each group. As a result the plan is to find a supplier who can produce the stickers in more vibrant colors than were available from the current supplier.
On another note, registrations for the SBD events are going strong.
Glenora tops the list with very little room left. So if you have friends who want to be in the Glenora Run, they better sign up right away. I believe Glenora is at 108 cars already.
As for the other SBD events they aren’t quite up to the number that Glenora is but they are doing very well so far. We have an ongoing competition within the GPF committee to see which event fills the fastest.
Of course Glenora (as always) is at the top of the list followed this year by Tour de Marque/Mustang, with Founders Tour only one car behind them. The rest of the order is, Knapp Sporting Roadster Tour, Lake to Lake Sportscar Ramble, Concours de Elegance, Burning Asphalt Sauces Glenkhana, and the Concours d LeMons bringing up the rear. Where else would the Rodney Dangerfield of car shows be?
As you can imagine all of these early registrations are part of what makes proper event planning possible. If everyone waited for the last month to sign up we couldn’t have the kind of GP Festival you are used to.
Keep on keeping up,
Casey
